Description

Since 2014, Resurrection has built a reputation for being the gold standard by which other Journey tributes are measured. In its near decade long existence, the band has developed a Facebook following of over 52,000, nearly twice that of the next most followed Journey tribute act. During that time, the band has played in nearly 40 of the 50 states in the United States, including playing for 40,000 Chicago White Sox fans at US Cellular Field as part of their 10th anniversary celebration of having won the 2005 World Series. At the end of 2022, the band found itself in need of a new vocalist to handle the frontman duties and deliver the high notes originally belted out by Steve Perry…indeed, no small feat. Interviewing and auditioning vocalists from all over the country, Resurrection planned a show on its home turf in Nashville, Tennessee, at the legendary venue, 3rd & Lindsley, to give 8 different singers the opportunity to divide up the evening's set list and perform for the sellout crowd. By the end of the night, fan sentiment was clear that one man had the power, the pipes, and the passion to do the Journey catalogue justice. That man is Bryan Cole. Only two weeks after that fateful night in Nashville, Bryan took to the stage and faced a room full of fans at The Maryland Theatre to deliver a nearly two hour show of Journey material. Having been a die-hard fan of Steve Perry since he was merely six years old, the lyrics of each song on the evening's set list were deeply etched upon his heart. Having worked with some of Nashville's most accomplished musicians during his lifetime, Bryan was professionally polished and prepared to accept the judgement from an audience mostly unaware of the band's change of vocalists. The curtain raised. The band took the stage. It was showtime… Resurrection launched into the opener, “Any Way You Want It”, and attacked the tune full throttle. Bryan invited the audience to sing a couple phrases and the crowd delivered. The room was beginning to ignite. Following the opener, the band quickly counted off “Only The Young”, allowing Bryan to stretch out his voice over the long and soaring musical phrases which make this particular song so anthemic. Faces in the audience beamed, loving what they were hearing. Following the end of the tune and a hearty round of applause, bandleader, Vic White, addressed the crowd to acknowledge the band's change of vocalist and to introduce Bryan. Before Vic could even get Bryan's name out of his mouth, the audience interrupted the introduction to break into a spontaneous and thunderous applause of approval. The audience welcomed Bryan into the Resurrection family with open arms that night in Hagerstown, Maryland. Video of the evening's performance sprung up on the band's social media pages the next day and was met with equal enthusiasm. Subsequent shows brought packed houses and immediate re-bookings, along with praises from theatre and amphi-theatre directors who moved forward with the band. Resurrection's torch landed in the capable hands of Bryan Cole in 2023, and the band continues to race forward with no intention of slowing down. The band is adding songs from the Journey catalogue previously not performed on any of its prior tours. The new “Still They Ride” tour has launched, aptly named to proclaim the band's perseverance and ability to sustain its excellence through change. Audiences continue to rave about the band, not only at each performance, but also through our social media platforms. New shows are being added to the calendar each week. The bands 53k Facebook followers - the largest of any Journey Tribute band - gives credence to the band's caliber. Join us for the ride. Come experience a show and see for yourself what the Journey is all about.
